DADU, July 21: The Indus River is in medium flood at the Dadu-Moro bridge and water is eroding the J-spur. Sources told this correspondent on Thursday that the river flow had damaged the second arm of the J-spur at RD-1900 and washed away stones at the front side. Irrigation staff started filling of stones to control the water erosion.

The Indus river water is also eroding the SM bund at the 49-mile.

The executive engineer of the Rohri division, Jam Mitha Khan told Dawn that at damaged part of J-spur dumping of stones was going on.

He said the 49- mile of the SM bund and the second arm of the J-spur were sensitive places but situation was under control.

ARRESTED: About twenty-seven people belonging to religious groups were arrested in a crackdown against suspected militants in Dadu, Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah and Kotri towns on Thursday.

In Dadu town, police conducted a raid at different places and arrested Gul Munir Rahujo, Aslam Mujahid, Hajan Leghari, Habib Rehman Malkani and Waheed Qureshi.

Police arrested eight people in Mehar, four in Khairpur Nathan Shah and 10 in Kotri.
