Ramazan TV

Published June 14, 2019

LIKE previous years, I was once again disappointed by TV programmes transmitted every evening during Ramazan. On almost every channel there was a decked-up lady, some guests, a cook and a huge crowd waiting to grab gifts thrown towards them.

Some programmes had saner elements, but largely they did not reflect the true spirit and sanctity of Ramazan. Ramazan TV programmes could be much more enlightening, educative and interesting if they were conducted and formulated by hosts like Aneeq Ahmed and Zubair Ahmed and their team of knowledgeable and respected religious scholars.

They would do much justice to the holy month of Ramazan.
