RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Wednesday arranged Qirat and Naat Mehfil in connection with Ramazan.

Qari Mohammad Mushtaq Anwar presided over the event.

Qari Zeeshan Haider, Qari Hassan Bilal, Qari Mohammad Afzal Naeemi and Qari Zafar Ali recited from Holy Quran while Hafiz Mohammad Akram, Prof Asad Ali, Mohammad Armghan Sarwar and others presented Naat.

The function was largely attended by the residents of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

RAC Director Waqar Ahmed said that the Potohar region was blessed with good voices and the RAC arranged the function to give people a chance to present their talent in the field of Qirat and Naat.

He said the poets came with their new work in Hamd and Naat. He said the RAC would soon start competition among the poets to present best Naat and Hamd and the toppers would be given prizes.

The Mehfil-i-Husn-i-Qirat and Naat ended with special address and prayers by Prof Dr Abdul Basit Mujahid.
