BAHAWALPUR: Two religious scholars (brothers) were allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint at Labana Chowk on Karachi-Bahawalpur Highway here on Sunday.

According to police sources, both brothers Mufti Muhammad Yousaf and Mufti Abubakar were kidnapped by three people and there was no clue to their whereabouts.

PRO Umer Saleem told Dawn that the Cantonment police registered a case.

GANG: The Cantonment police claimed on Sunday to have arrested three members of a motorcycle lifters gang.

District Police Officer Amir Taimoor Buzdar after receiving complaints about rising incidents of theft of motorcycles formed a team that arrested ringleader Sarfraz, Rashid and Javed and recovered four motorcycles and hundreds of thousands of rupees.

The gang, he said, was wanted in 24 cases registered against them by the police of DG Khan, Dhanote and Bahawalnagar.

SECURITY PLAN: The district police on Sunday finalised the security plan for Youm-i-Ali.

The DPO said more than 1,000 police officials would be deployed for the five processions and 29 gatherings.
