MANSEHRA: A man died and two suffered critical injures as a car they travelled in fell into a deep ravine in Chanchal area of Lower Kohistan district on Saturday.

Mohammad Bilal of the Lower Kohistan police control room told reporters that the accident occurred on the Karakoram Highway when the driver lost the car’s control while negotiating a sharp turn on the way from Besham to Dasu.

He said the residents shifted the injured, including Nematullah, Hanifullah and Inamullah, to a nearby hospital, where the doctors pronounced one of them died.

Also in the day, stray dogs bit six people in Oghi area.

The injured were shifted to the nearby government hospitals, where shortage of anti-rabies vaccine was reported.

COMPLETION: Girls clinched top positions in the Sixth Khyber Pakhtunkhwa–Punjab Disabilities Competition held here on Saturday.

The Right to Live, a nongovernmental organisation working for the rights of the visually-imparted people, had organised the event in which 18 boys and girls participated.

Eleven contestants were from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and seven from Punjab. Saba Pervez of Abbottabad stood first, Quratulain of Rawalpindi second and Zamir Ahmad of Mansehra third in the competition.

Chairperson of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly’s standing committee on social welfare Momina Basit said the government would soon establish a special education centre for the persons with disabilities in Mansehra.

“Special persons are being appointed to the posts fixed for them in government departments besides the provision of other incentives and relief packages announced by the successive governments to them,” she said.

MILKMEN HELD: Over a dozen milk sellers were held and a large quantity of adulterated milk was disposed of during a joint operation of the district administration and food department here on Saturday.

The milk weighing hundreds of kilogrammes was seized during the inspection of many vehicles.

Assistant commissioner Ali Sher, who led the action, said the adulterated milk was being supplied to commercial and domestic consumers in Mansehra city and its suburbs. He said the crackdown on adulterated milk would continue.
