HYDERABAD, Jan 13: The president, National Labour Federation, Sindh, Rana Mehmood Ali Khan, has said that the activities of the trade unions had been restricted to only the holding of seminars and workers conventions which could not resolve the problems of the workers.

He was speaking as the chief guest at an Eid Milan party jointly organized by the Pegham Wapda union and Prem Railways union here the other day.

He said the workers were faced with two major problems, insecurity of service and high prices of consumer goods.

He said downsizing, rightsizing and retrenchment in both the public and private sector organizations had rendered thousands of workers jobless. Even the office-bearers of the trade unions had no security of jobs due to which the trade union activities were being curtailed, he said.

The high prices of consumer goods had nullified the facilities that had been extended to the workers and the low grade employees were finding it difficult to survive on their meagre salaries, he added.
