LAKKI MARWAT: Two alleged militants were killed in a clash with security forces in the border area between Lakki and Tank tribal subdivisions on Thursday.

An official source said that security forces stationed at Chega Lar Paakhel were carrying out a search operation in Lakki tribal subdivision when they learnt about presence of militants in Lewanai Pewa border village.

“The soldiers came under attack when they reached the area and started to cordon it off,” said the source, adding that security personnel retaliated and during a gun battle two militants were killed.

He said that the bodies of militants were taken to FC fort in Mastikhel area.

“The militants were identified as Wazir Zaman, a resident of Haramatala in Lakki Marwat, and Zubair of tribal subdivision Jandola in Tank,” he said.

Meanwhile, a man was killed and a seventh grader wounded in Eesakkhel village.

The student Mohammad Waqas, 13, told police that he was returning from school when Inshaullah and Naveed intercepted him.

“I entered the bhaitak (guestroom) of one Mir Ajab,” he said and added that Farmanullah, son of Mir Ajab, tried to stop the armed men from harming him, but they opened fire, killing Farmanullah on the spot and wounding him seriously.

Also, a young man Rashid Nawaz was killed over a dispute on power connection in Sarkati Michenkhel village.
