ISLAMABAD: Aqeel Khan has joined Aisam-ul-Haq in Switzerland as part of Pakistan’s preparations for their Davis Cup tie against India.

Pakistan’s leading tennis duo are currently in Geneva with Aqeel set to travel with Aisam as his hitting partner as the latter takes part in ATP Tour tournaments as well as the French Open and Wimbledon.

“Aqeel will travel with Aisam ul Haq as a hitting partner during their tour of Europe. During his stay in Europe, Aisam will participate in ATP and Grand Slam Tennis Tournaments especially the French Open and Wimbledon,” says a press release issued by Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) on Wednesday.

Pakistan are due to host India in their Davis Cup Asia Oceania Group-1 tie in Islamabad in September.

PTF president Salim Saifullah Khan and the PTF management wished their best to both the players, who are exempted from the trials which will see the remaining three players selected for the Davis Cup team.

Pakistan number three Muzammil Murtaza and Ahmed Chaudhry are currently in Uganda playing the ITF Futures event while Pakistan number two Mohammad Abid is currently in the country.
