SHANGLA: Police seized fake currency and apprehended a gang of smugglers at Shangla Top checkpost here on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference, district police officer Syed Rasool Shah said that a police team arrested a gang of smugglers which had been wanted in different smuggling cases, whereas several FIRS had been registered in various police stations of Shangla against them.
He said that a police team stopped a car (AD-3335), which was heading to Puran Aloch from Swat, and during search recovered fake currency notes worth Rs136,000 from the possession of the gang members.
The DPO said that the gang members identified as Amir Mohammad, Zafarullah Khan and Umar Rehman, residents of Aloch Puran, had been arrested.
The police registered a case against them and have started investigations.
He urged the local people to inform police about drugs sellers in their respective areas so that the menace of drugs could be eliminated.
BILLBOARDS REMOVED: The tehsil municipal administration, Bisham, has removed billboards from roadsides on various routes.
The TMA started a campaign in this regard here the other day and removed the boards of hotels and other businesses. It warned the owners to avoid installation of boards along the main roads.
Meanwhile, a welfare organisation distributed Ramazan food packages among orphans and widows at Jatkool area of Chakesar tehsil here on Saturday. The organisers said that they had also planned to distribute Eid packages among the families of the victims of coalmine incidents.
