KARACHI: Two Shia organisations have expressed concern over the publication of a cartoon in this newspaper.
In a statement on Thursday, spokesmen for the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen and Imamia Students Organisation acknowledged that the cartoonist may have inadvertently ignored the sensitivities involved with such matters.
They said the entire Shia community, particularly those living in Pakistan, was saddened by the publication of the cartoon.
The spokesmen expressed the hope that no cartoon of Ayatullah Seyyed Ali Khamenei or any spiritual leader of Shia Muslims would be published in future.
They said the Shia community believes Dawn is an esteemed daily of integrity and hopes that the newspaper will never hurt religious feelings of the community and followers of Ayatullah Khamenei.
