SWABI: The jirga members and former lawmakers from the area settled a five years old blood feud between two families of Jhanda village on Saturday.

Former provincial minister Maulana Fazal Ali, ex-MPA Abdullah Khan and a jirga member from Maneri Payan Haroon Khan had played their role in peaceful settlement of the feud between the families of Tariq Khan and Pervaiz Khan.

The two families had clashed over a piece of land in which Abbas Khan, young son of Pervaiz Khan, was killed five years ago. There was always a danger of clash and harming of the people.

The two families took oath in a local mosque and declared that they would live like brothers in future. Mr Pervaiz forgave the Tariq family.

IFTAR AT RIVERSIDE: People from various areas of the district throng the Indus River daily for arranging Iftar parties at the riverside and it is expected that the rush of visitors will increase in the days ahead.

It was attractive for the people to have an Iftar with friends on the bank of Indus River while enjoying cool breeze in the summer. The visitors told this correspondent that when they sat on the edge of the river they forgot the summer.

The visitors from any part of the district could easily approach the river within an hour of journey. Beef and chicken are the common items prepared by majority of the visitors themselves and some of them bring fruits and cooked food.

Azmat Khan, a resident of Topi city, said that cool breeze at the site provided them with relief from summer heat.

Mohammad Adil, another visitor, said that after arrival he ran straight into the water and enjoyed bathing.
