KOHAT: State Minister for States and Frontier Regions Shehryar Afridi and vice-president of Chinese Huawei company inaugurated the laboratory of Institute of Computer Technology at the Kohat University of Science and Technology (Kust) here the other day.

The VP Wing Zong said in his speech that they had trained eight instructors at their Lahore offices who would teach the students about information technology, especially networking and other related subjects.

He announced that the education expenses of first two batches would be borne by the company and in the meantime scholarships would be offered to the selected teachers and students for MS and Phd in higher studies.

He said that the computer lab would produce able force which would help them in getting jobs easily.

Mr Afridi said on this occasion that China had made great achievements in a short span of time through hard work.

He said that China and Pakistan were great friends and would continue cooperation in various fields.

Meanwhile, adviser to the chief minister on education, MPA Ziaullah Bangash, said that the present government is spending billions of rupees to raise standard of education and enable the students to face future challenges.

He was speaking at a ceremony held to inaugurate work on the construction of a new 12-room hostel for teachers at Garrison Cadet College, Kohat, the other day.

The hostel would be completed with a cost of Rs60 million in nine months.

He announced Rs70 million for the construction of new auditorium in the college.
