QUETTA: The government of South Korea has provided six vehicles for the Balochistan police.

Korean Ambassador to Pakistan Kwak Sung handed over the keys of the vehicles to Balochistan Police Inspector General Mohsin Hassan Butt during a ceremony on Friday.

Some Korean diplomats and business people were present on the occasion.

Mr Sung expressed the hope that the vehicles would be helpful in improving the police’s efforts for law enforcement in the province.

IG Butt thanked the Korean government for providing the vehicles to the police.

Meanwhile, the Korean ambassador met chief minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani on Friday and discussed with him prospects of investment in the province.

Mr Sung said on the occasion that Korean companies were interested in investing in various sectors in Balochistan.

He offered his country’s assistance in provision of skill training in fisheries.

He said his country was also willing to offer opportunities to students of Balochistan to study in Korea under a joint educational programme.

Mr Alyani invited Korean companies to invest in various sectors, including agriculture, fisheries, minerals, energy and livestock.

“Korean companies could invest in provincial fisheries sector, including processing and packing plants,” he said, adding that the processing units had been exporting fish to international markets through Gwadar.

He said that Korean exporters could benefit from the coastal belt as well. “Gwadar has turned into a flagship city under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project, which would provide industrial and economic opportunities to the youth,” the chief minister said.
