Iran to keep exporting crude oil despite US pressure: President Rouhani

Iran will continue to export oil despite US pressure aimed at reducing the nation's crude oil shipments to zero, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said in a speech broadcast live on Iranian state TV on Tuesday.
"America's decision that Iran's oil exports must reach zero is a wrong and mistaken decision, and we won't let this decision be executed and operational," Rouhani said.
"In future months, the Americans themselves will see that we will continue our oil exports," he said.
If the United States is able to stop one method for Iran to export oil, then it will find other ways, Rouhani said.
Oil prices hit their highest since November last week after Washington said all waivers for sanctions-hit Iranian oil would end this week, pressuring importers to stop buying from Tehran and further tightening global supply.

The United States demanded last Monday that buyers of Iranian oil stop purchases by May 1 or face sanctions, ending six months of waivers that had allowed Iran's eight biggest customers, most of them in Asia, to continue importing limited volumes.
Ordinary Iranians are the ones who feel the pressure from US sanctions, Rouhani said.

They could also work on a re-export model, where they sell oil at a discount to China and Russia, and then these countries resell it to whoever wants to buy it. So, Pakistan and India can buy Iranian oil through China and Russia respectively. Iran will really need to give double-digit discount for this to work.

The sanctions have taken on a toll on Iran's citizens and I hope the government is able to export crude oil as it desires. However, everyone should start thinking about how to support their economies once we transition to renewable sources of energy.

Only India can help Iran at this hour of crises, as was done in the past, but India had very bitter experience of past. Last time when all sanctions were removed, Iran back stab India by leasing Oil Wells to China. This time India will move ahead with caution.

It will be good idea if iran supply crude oil to pakistan free of charge as Iranian crude oil has embargo so it's no use and Pakistan needs oil due to no money in account. In return Pakistan send onions potatoes rice etc.

Pakistan shouldnt buy as iran always chooses india and tries to apply pressure on pakistan. Iran should whole heartedly support pakistan, stop cross boarder violence, stop indian terrorists using its soil, stop adbucting children in tankers from pakistan, then maybe pakistan should think about buying.

Iranian people are talented and entrepreneurial. Unfortunately, the leadership has constrained them. Forget you have oil and gas for a moment, and focus on the great entrepreneurial qualities of your young population.

Pakistan should buy oil from Iran at half price and hell with sanctions. They already imposed war on us from all axis, terrorism, financial, extortion, extremism, threats, 5th generation warfare, etc. I say hell with sanctions. China, Russia, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Sri Lanka should from a military alliance block like nato.

But, unfortunately US can put indirect sanctions on Russians and Chinese companies who defy the ban by stopping them from doing business with US companies. Hence, the reluctance of other countries to help Iran!
