OKARA: Three minor sisters died, while five others were injured when the roof of a room they were sleeping in caved in on Tuesday night in Hujra Shah Muqeem.

In Mohallah Islampura of Hujra Shah Muqeem, the family of Abdul Wahid and some guests were sleeping in a room when suddenly the roof caved in, killing Mubarra, 4, Mubashira, 3, and Faiza, 1. Abdul Wahid, his wife Shahida and 17-year-old daughter Ghulam Fatima along with two guests suffered injuries.

Neighbours rushed to the scene to rescue the people and informed Rescue 1122 and police. The injured were shifted to local hospital.

On Wednesday morning, Deputy Commissioner Maryam Khan visited the hospital along with Assistant Commissioner Tabreez Sadiq Marri and inquired after the injured, who were said to be stable.
