PESHAWAR: PML-N provincial president Amir Muqam has expressed his reservations about the unavailability of quality medical facilities in the public sector hospitals of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and said that the faulty machine in cardiac department of the Lady Reading Hospital is a proof of the government’s failure to fulfil its promises.

Talking to mediapersons here on Tuesday, he said that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government had announced ‘Sehat emergency’ plan to provide all the required medical facilities to people, but it had failed to ensure even maintenance of the existing machines in the most sensitive wards of the public sector hospitals.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was unable to deliver and thus the people would have to take steps at their own. He said that the country’s economy was on the verge of collapse as the government was busy taking loans frequently.

He said that the significant increase in the price of natural gas would hit the masses economically as the government had been increasing rates of petroleum products, power and gas repeatedly since its inception.

He said that the government affairs could not be run through loans from the State Bank of Pakistan, IMF and World Bank. He said that the rulers were unable to devise an effective economic policy to control unemployment, corruption and inflation. He said that the rulers knew nothing except levelling baseless allegations against leaders of the opposition parties to hide own weaknesses.

Referring to the Bus Rapid Transit project, he said that only one mega project had been initiated in Peshawar with claims to complete it within six months, but it took about two years and was still under construction.

Mr Muqam said the government should admit its failure and step down. He expressed his shock over the killing of a police official during an encounter with terrorists in Hayatabad and appreciated the law enforcement agencies for conducting a successful operation.
