2-year-old girl allegedly raped by neighbour in Islamabad

Islamabad police on Monday night arrested a suspect for allegedly raping a 2-year-old girl in Bhara Kahu area.
According to a first information report (FIR) of the incident, the minor child had gone to her grandparents' house in the neighbourhood in the morning. When the girl's mother came out looking for her a while later, she could not find the child at the grandparents' house.
The minor girl later came out crying from another house in the neighbourhood.
The grandmother of the child then went inside the house where the girl had emerged from. A suspect, who was reportedly living in the house on a rental basis, was allegedly hiding in a bathroom of the house.
When the woman knocked on the door, the man came out from the bathroom and, before he was asked anything, started saying that he "didn't do anything", the child's mother said.
According to the mother, she had seen blood stains on the clothes of the child. She said she took her daughter to a hospital where the doctor directed them to visit the police first. Later, she said, the child was taken to the Polyclinic Hospital where a doctor after an initial examination said she had been raped.
Police have registered a case and arrested the suspect. However, they are awaiting the medico-legal report for further legal action.

Very unfortunate incident - However, how doctors could directed the victim and their family who has suffered traumatic incident of rape to visit Police Station First. Why Medical Legal Officer and police investigators were not called at the hospital, for further investigation of the case and further police to reach the crime scene and arrest the culprit.
The perpetrator should be given exemplary punishment.

Not blaming the parents here but if we look back at previous incidents pattern is the same where children are left alone or sent somewhere who don't pay much attention. Children are abused by neighbours, sometimes relatives(people close to the family) . I wouldn't say it's a growing prob in our society because it has existed for decades, thankfully these cases are being reported but the sad part is that we always turn a blind eye thinking that probably it's a one time thing. I think govt should bring a training programme for couples who wish to have babies and for those parents who have children of less than 14y. Because ultimately it's only the parents who care and suffer.

It is because easy access to XXX porn sites on internet - main cause of creating paedophiles and sex predators in the youth of our civil society, comprising of 64% of the total population. Unless a complete ban to such sites is not imposed, these vulnerable children will remain unsafe, and such rapes and murders, as a consequency to conceal such crimes, will keep on happening every now and then across the country.

@sameera, or certain measures should be taken by the government against such crimes and such disgusting men. They can set an example by punishing them so they would be filled with fear before committing such an act. The thing is they are aware no strict action will be taken against their "lust" so they feel comfortable with causing a lifelong trauma and pain for girls. Pakistan parents have no clue as to how to protect even their own children. There are no one out there teachings poor Pakistani basic skills to survive. Where are the concerned citizens, somethings are done by civilized socities ,where the educated citizens bring up others. This incident shows, laws are not enough, education is needed, the skills in basic saftey,is a must!
