LARKANA, July 11: As most of the PPP candidates for posts of district and taluka nazims are preparing to approach party chief Benazir Bhutto in Dubai, former Sindh minister Mir Nadir Ali Magsi has already visited her and sought her approval for the post of nazim of the Qambar-Shahdadkot district. Talking to journalists here at a reception held by PPP activist Suhail Siyal on Monday, Mr Magsi said he had briefed the party chief on conditions prevailing in the district and was hopeful of getting the ticket.

However, the PPP’s district board formed in this connection had not yet finalized the candidate for the district where another heavyweight Nawab Shabir Chandio was preparing his son to contest the election.

The board constituted for the purpose would meet on July 15 and decide about the candidates.

Mr Magsi said the MQM had no roots in Sindh except its capital city and only the opponents of the PPP were exploiting the MQM to get their works solved through its ministers.

He alleged that Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and other cabinet members with party flags on their cars were busy in election campaign.

It was utter violation of the election commission’s announcement of holding local body elections on the non-party basis.

Former District Nazim Khursheed Junejo and MNA Anwar Bhutto said the bifurcation of district would cast no negative impact on PPP’s popularity and standing.

They said the division would only increase the problems of the people.

They said the Sindh government had tried to create pockets for easy win for pro-government candidates but their candidates would face worst defeat.
