LAHORE: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday underwent various tests at a private health facility in Gulberg.

Upon his arrival a good number of PML-N workers chanted slogans in his favour. Some of them tried to break the security cover to handshake with Mr Sharif.

After his visit, Maryam Nawaz tweeted, “MNS (Mian Nawaz Sharif)’s labs/scans/investigations to be completed by the end of this week or early next week. Concerned specialists being consulted. We should have a clearer picture of his health status & the procedures he needs subsequently.”

She further said on Tuesday Mr Sharif had Echo and Ultrasound for kidneys along with Doppler studies for Carotid Arteries and Peripheral Vessels.

“Substantial stenosis detected on Carotid Doppler studies. [He] underwent on Wednesday MRI/MRA for Carotids (arteries supplying blood to brain) and renals to further investigate,” she said.

Mr Sharif was released from Kot Lakhpat jail on March 27 after the Supreme Court granted him bail for six weeks allowing him to get medical treatment from doctors of his choice in the country. At Kot Lakhpat jail he was undergoing a seven-year imprisonment in the Al-Azizia Mills corruption case.

A panel of consultants at the Sharif Medical City (SMC) has been treating him since his release from the jail.
