In a first, transgenders to be offered 5pc jobs in Sindh police: IG

Members of the transgender community will be provided five per cent of the jobs in Sindh police for the first time, Inspector General Dr Syed Kaleem Imam announced on Monday.

The announcement was made during a meeting between a delegation of transgenders with the Sindh police chief in Sukkur, police spokesperson Sohail Jokhio told Dawn.

The transgender individuals will be offered various office jobs in the provincial police force, a statement quoted IG Imam as saying.

The Sindh police chief also said efforts were underway to restore the quota for disabled persons in the provincial police, and necessary officials steps will be taken in this regard soon.

Steps will also be taken to provide employment opportunities to people from minorities, he promised.

IG Imam said they were focusing on promoting a people-friendly atmosphere at the level of police stations and on bringing the policing standards at par with modern standards

It is so sad as the burecracy and incompetent Sindh governement trying to proof that they are so humanitarian and pleasing to so called libreals, where most of them exploiting the basic rights of common people. Even Trumph in USA is reversing the decision of so called libreals. These people need to be taken care by the state as they have needs very different then the population . Rather then making a mockey of them by announcing these programs for photo sessions or getting some charity and funds to steal. .

A very commendable move indeed! It is equally important that they should be provided equal opportunity in the field of education, government and private jobs. The trans-gender community now should focus on education and learn skill based jobs. Change your conventional image as a dancer in the newborn baby function etc. You have every right to live your life like a normal citizen and earn money with pride and self-dignity. Learn auto driving, making some products etc. there are hundreds of things you can do. The government has to frame a policy for the trans as well as the minority for self-reliance and development.

If everyone is provided jobs by quota system then close all eduction institutions. Sindh government should provide jobs by creating new jobs not from existing job by depriving from the right full one. Sindh government is one of the world top corrupt government and enemy of Pakistan and its people. Whole sindh is garbage dump , law and order only exists because of army. Education system doesn’t exist in sindh. What is ppp performance

A decade ago, when I raised the issue of the transgender community at LUMS, the co-called highly educated and super religious colleagues of mine objected to addressing this matter. Seems like the state is more open-minded and pluralistic than faculty at leading academic institutions.
