BAHAWALPUR: Samman Das, the brother of the two ‘minor’ Hindu girls from Daharki, moved the Lahore High Court, Bahawalpur bench, on Monday and sought their recovery.

Talking to the media outside the court, Das contended that Reena and Raveena were minor and were compelled to embrace Islam and marry two Muslim men.

The girls, on the other hand, approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and sought protection for themselves and their grooms.

Samman Das came here from Daharki following reports that the sisters would appear before the court on Monday. He stayed here for the entire day but the girls rather reached Islamabad.

In his plea to the court, he said since both the girls were below 18 years, they could not be married under the Sindh laws. He said the girls had been compelled to embrace Islam.

SP ( Legal) Javed Iqbal Bajwa told Dawn that following reports that the Hindu girls might be produced in the high court bench here, police had enhanced security around the court premises.
