KARACHI: Nishter Basketball Club beat their tough opponents Omega Club 59-51 in the final match to clinch the title of NBP Pakistan Day basketball tournament organized by Karachi Basketball Association in collaboration with NBP at Arambagh Basketball courts on Sunday.

Muhammad Shabbar with as many as 17 points was the top scorer for the winners with valuable contribution from Talha Amjad 13 points, Vaqar Zulfiqar 12 and Asad Ali 10 points. For the runners-up, Abbas Qaimkhani scored 15 points, Usman Rehman 13, Anas and Tahir Naqash 10 points each.

DC South Syed Salahuddin Ahmed was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony and gave away trophies and individual prizes to players. Talha Amjad of Nishter Club was adjudged best player of the tournament while Muhammad Shabbar was named best player of the final match. Faizan Yousuf, and Usman Khawaja got emerging players awards.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest lauded the role of KBBA in promoting the game of basketball at grass root level and assured of his full support to the association in this regard.

KBBA president Ghulam Muhammad Khan, Shahida Parveen, Amjad Ali Khan, Agha Muhammad Raza, Azmatullah Khan and former International player Abdul Nasir were also present on the occasion.
