KARACHI: Five horses will battle it out for honours when the Pakistan Day Cup takes place at the Karachi Racecourse on Saturday.

The Karachi Race Club joins the nation to commemorate the auspicious occasion by staging the cup as the day incidentally coincides with the weekly races.

The club has been tastefully decorated with national flags and colourful buntings.

The cup race which is also day’s feature event, the combined top scale order I, II and III to be contested over five-and-a-half furlongs, is the last race of a four-race card that has been drawn.

Halfbred Moscow Gold, formerly Mitwa from Lahore, will make debut in the cup race at the course on Saturday.

The first race will go over four furlongs while the second and third four-and-a-hal furlongs.

A total of 29 horses will vie for honours barring last-minute withdrawal (s).
