KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Wednesday claimed to have detained 11 suspects, including two belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L).

The paramilitary force carried out an action in the Sharifabad area and apprehended two suspects namely Kashif Ali aka Nawwa and Shan.

“The held suspects belonging to the MQM-L were involved in suspicious activities and dacoities in the area,” said a Rangers spokesperson without elaborating on the nature of their activities.

Separately, the paramilitary force conducted actions in Shah Faisal Colony, Sharifabad and Ferozabad and apprehended nine suspects over charges of their involvement in street crimes and other illegal activities.

Road safety as part of school curriculum

Around estimated 1.2 million people died due to road accidents in the world annually, which underlined the importance of implementing road safety laws and highway rules, said Motorway police DIG Mohammed Saleem.

Speaking at a seminar, he said accidents occurred mainly owing to lack of awareness of traffic rules and their implementation.

“Therefore, we have decided that like other countries we should make road safety subject as part of school syllabus so that the pupils may follow the traffic rules when they grow up,” said Mr Saleem.
