RAWALPINDI: The local leaders and the workers of PML-N on Friday staged a protest for the release of their ailing leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif incarcerated in Kot Lakhpath Jail.

The participants gathered outside Rawalpindi Press Club (RPC) under the leadership of PML-N former candidate NA-62 Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry.

The protesters were holding banners and placards and chanting slogans in favour of Nawaz Sharif and against the PTI government and Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The protesters urged the government to allow family doctor of imprisoned former premier to examine him in the jail.

They said three times elected prime minister was not being treated properly in the jail by the government which was not acceptable.

“We will not tolerate the humiliation of our great leader who had made Pakistan an atomic power and launched several development projects for betterment of the people,” said Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry, while addressing the protesters.

He said the jail authorities have been treating Mian Nawaz Sharif inhumanly apparently at the behest of government.

“The rulers will be responsible if something wrong happened to our Quaid Nawaz Sharif,” said Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry.

He said that Rawalpindi was known as the epic centre of powerful political movements that led to bringing a change in the country.

He urged the government to stop treating Mian Nawaz Sharif inhumanly and to provide him best quality health facilities.
