LAHORE: Alhamra Live – an open forum for singing for the members of public – attracted a large audience on Thursday evening at the Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall.

The initiative is aimed at providing an opportunity to the upcoming singers whose voices though melodious cannot get any recognition owing to lack of some proper forum.

Thursday’s show was a packed one as many young and some middle-aged vocalists sang famous Pakistani film numbers, ghazals and folk songs. There was a good line-up of singers from different walks of life, who were excited to get a chance to show their singing talent in front of a large gathering.

Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Athar Ali Khan told Dawn on the occasion that the council was taking great interest in the promotion of quality singing, that’s why it provided such a platform to the public.

He said soon the council would introduce individual musical programmes, representing different educational institutions.
