SHANGLA: Re-polling in Naway Kaly village council to elect the naib nazim is scheduled to be held on Tuesday after the election was declared null and void due to non-participation of women voters.

According to an election commission official, 10 per cent of women votes were essential for an election to be valid, but no women turned up for casting votes during the election held two months ago, where Sultan-i-Sham had secured 436 votes and his opponent, Rahim Bar had got 195 votes.

The ECP official said the election was later rescheduled and the re-polling would be held on March 5 (Tuesday) for which all arrangements had been finalised.

He said the same candidates, Sultan-i-Sham and Rahim Bar, were contesting the election for the naib nazim.

The official also urged the locals to ensure women voting for the re-poll so that it would not again be declared null and void.
