KARACHI: Iqra University and NED University team defeated their respective rivals on the opening day of the SSB Inter-Collegiate Girls Basketball Championship here at Arambagh court on Tuesday.

In the first match, Iqra College beat Talat College 32-26. The main scorers for the winners were Yusha (12 points), Nurunissa and Dua (8 each).

For the losing side, Afeefa (8), Sidra (7) and Asam (6) contributed well.

In the second match, NED University beat KMA Coll­ege 32-30. The main scorers for the winners were Mar­haba (10), Nimra (8) and Afeefa (6).

For the losing side the main scorers were Hira and Bushra (8 each) and Habiba (6).

Shehzad Bhatti, Director Sports Govt of Sindh, was the chief guest on the occasion and was introduced to the teams. He said under the instructions of Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah, more and more healthy and sporting activities are being organised in Karachi and other cities of the province and they will go a long way in creating an atmosphere of peace and harmony.
