SHEIKHUPURA, July 5: Residents of Khanqah Dogran, Safdarabad, Ajnianwala and some other localities have informed journalists that despite verbal assurance by Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi no notification has been issued yet to confirm that these areas will remain in Sheikhupura. Led by Mian Tariq Raza, Syed Zubair Khalid and Mian Zubair Dogar, a delegation told journalists the other day that these areas were still being considered a part of Nankana Sahib despite the chief minister’s announcement that they would remain in Sheikhupura jurisdiction. The situation, they said, was creating ambiguity and causing inconvenience to the people.

They have demanded that the chief minister should issue a fresh notification announcing Safdarabad, Khanqah Dogran, Ajnianwala and other localities in the jurisdiction of Sheikhupura.

The residents threatened that they would boycott the local and general elections and refuse to pay taxes if their demand was not met.
