BD and Pakistan

Published February 19, 2019

IT is believed that Asia will soon see another tiger in the list of Asian Tigers — Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, etc, that is Bangladesh. Her growth rate is 7.8 per cent which is almost equal to India’s and higher than that of Pakistan. Bangladesh’s foreign exchange reserves are four times that of Pakistan, and debt per capita half to Pakistan’s rate.

Similarly, Bangladesh’s export earnings are 44pc higher than Pakistan. Also Bangladesh has left Pakistan behind in the area of women employment rate. The ILO reports female employment rates 32.2% and 25.1% for Bangladesh and Pakistan respectively. Considering these facts, it is high time for Pakistan to learn from others.
