KARACHI: Senior journalist Tahir Hasan Khan said on Sunday that The Democrat group did not take part in the election of a faction of the Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) held on Saturday.

Mr Khan, who was a presidential candidate, said that two days before the polls his group had issued a letter to all members informing them of their decision to withdraw from the contest.

In the election, Ashraf Khan and Ahmed Khan Malik of The Progressive panel were elected as president and secretary of the union, respectively.
