KARACHI, July 4: The Sunni Tehreek has announced to fully participate in the forthcoming local bodies elections and is ready to make elections adjustments with the like-minded political parties. This was stated by the central leadership of the party at a press conference on Sunday at the Karachi Press Club.

Speaking on the occasion, Iftikhar Bhatti urged the president, prime minister, interior minister, chief justices of the Supreme Court and High Courts, federal minister for law, chairman senate and national assembly, corps commander Karachi, to end what he termed the no-go areas meant for the ST and other like-minded parties.

He said that under the present provincial government, fair and impartial elections were out of question.

Mr Bhatti urged that the provincial government should be removed and elections should be conducted under the care taker government to make the elections fair and transparent.

The central leadership of the party called for the arrest of the killers of dozens of its workers who had been gunned down in the city recently.

The leadership hoped that they would be successful in the elections and would bring positive change in the politics of the province once voted to the office.

Mr Bhatti said that the election adjustment with the like-minded parties would be at the discretion of the respective ST Town Election Cells which would be set in all the towns.

Mohammad Akram Qadri, Dr Abdul Qadeer Abbasi and Qari Khalilur Rehman were also present on the occasion.
