ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has said that Prime Minister of Lebanon Saad Al-Hariri has admitted that seeking pardon for the Sharif family was a big mistake.

In a tweet on Monday, Mr Chaudhry referred to a meeting between Mr Hariri and Prime Minister Imran Khan a day earlier in the United Arab Emirates on the sidelines of World Government Summit.

He said: “Saad Hariri played a key role in NRO [he got] for Nawaz Sharif from former president Pervez Musharraf, and he told Imran Khan that seeking pardon for the Sharif family was a big mistake.

“Hariri also informed Imran Khan that Nawaz Sharif did not fulfil a single commitment and I was feeling ashamed for it.”

There was no reaction from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz as neither its leadership issued a rebuttal nor a clarification.

Fawad Chaudhry’s tweet has come at a time when Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman is set to visit Pakistan in a few days.

The information minister has discounted the impression that the Saudi delegation would also discuss the release or soft treatment of Nawaz Sharif.

APP adds: Meanwhile, the information minister attended a ministerial meeting on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The meeting was a part of the Seventh Annual gathering of the World Government Summit having theme of Shaping Future Governments, a message received here from Dubai said.

The meeting held under the Global Governance of Al Forum (the Forum) and auspices of UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence Omar Bin Sultan Al Olama.

This forum is a unique multi-stakeholders’ platform that brings together leading experts and practitioners from around the world to build Al governance frameworks and pathways to action.
