KARACHI: Pakistan Veterans Yellows and Tiger Veterans conjured up contrasting victories as Veterans Hockey League resumed at the Olympian Islahuddin-Dr Mohammad Ali Shah hockey academy on Saturday.

Pakistan Veterans Yellows bulldozed Movers Veterans 9-1 to maintain their unbeaten run.

Making his first appearance as a guest player for DC South, Salahuddin Ahmed and M. Yousuf slammed three goals apiece while former Pakistan players Islahuddin, Safdar Abbas and Kamran Ashraf netted once.

Mehmood Ahmed scored the consolation goal for the losers.

According to rules of the event, the participating outfits are allowed to include any guest player in their teams irrespective of submission of list of players to organisers before the commencement of the tourney.

In another match, Tiger Veterans scored a solitary goal victory over Dolphin Veterans.

Dilawar Bhatti scored the all-important goal for the winners.

Organisers said the league will conclude on Feb 2 and will be followed by a knockout round.

They added it has not been decided yet whether to allow four teams from each pool to propel into quarter-finals or give passage to two teams from as many groups into the last four.

According to the draws, Pool ‘A’ includes six teams while Pool ‘B’ comprised of seven outfits.

Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani graced the Saturday match.
