LAHORE: Up to Rs134 million were distributed among 432 position holders of matriculation and intermediate examinations at a ceremony at Aiwan-i-Iqbal on Monday.

Punjab Higher Education Minister Raja Yasir Hamayun Sarfraz and Adviser to Chief Minister Aun Chaudhry participated in the ceremony.

Chairmen and secretaries of the nine boards of intermediate and secondary education were also present.

Position holders from Punjab, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad were invited to the ceremony.

Higher Education Minister Raja Yasir Humayun Sarfraz said students who topped the examinations were future and pride of the country.

He said prizes were being awarded to acknowledge the achievement of the position holders.

He said they would also introduce a grading system this year under a new education policy.

He said the grade system would end rot learning and improve the education of the students.

One of the position holders from the Daanish School of Chishtian raised a slogan in favour of former chief minister Shahbaz Sharif and thanked him for providing free education in Daanish School.

The incumbent government is planning to close Daanish schools.
