ABBOTTABAD: The parliamentary board of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Abbottabad, has nominated candidates for the top slots of district nazim and naib nazim for the forthcoming elections on both the seats, which had fallen vacant after resignations by the office-bearers to contest general elections.

By-elections for six council seats were held sometime back and an interim setup was running the affairs of Abbottabad district. However, after completion of the house the Election Commission of Pakistan has fixed Jan 23 for the election of district nazim and naib nazim.

Sources said that PTI was likely to win the seats as its rival PML-N might not contest the polls to have its nazim for the remaining period of just about eight months.

A consultation meeting was held at Jadoon House which was attended by MNA Ali Khan Jadoon, KP Assembly Speaker Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani and other party lawmakers from the area besides local office-bearers and a number of members of the district council.

Sardar Shabbir from Nagri Bala union council was named as candidate for the district nazim slot and Kamran Gul advocate from Dhobahtar for naib nazim’s.

MEDICAL CAMP: Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul, and station headquarters, Abbottabad, arranged a medical camp at Mirpur village where doctors of CMH provided free medical treatment, including lab tests, to a number of patients.

The camp was arranged on the directives of commandant PMA Kakul, Maj Gen Akhtar Nawaz Satti.

Specialist doctors of medicine, ENT, orthopaedic, eye, skin, paeds and gynae treated the patients at the camp. The local people lauded the Pakistan Army for providing health facilities to them and said that this should be made a regular feature. The station commander, Brig Faisal, said that a dispensary would be made functional from Monday (today) to provide the area people with basic health facilities.
