SHIKARPUR, June 30: Villagers from Kharos village near Habibkot staged a demonstration and burnt tyres on the Lakhi-Gate tower chowk here on Thursday. They were protesting against delay in the arrest of accused involved in the murder of three people. The protesters including women blocked the roads for traffic.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahnawaz Kharos and relatives of the deceased alleged three people were killed and their cattle were taken away by Mahars after the date for jirga was fixed to settle the Mahar-Jatoi dispute.

They said names of the nominated people were struck off from the FIR by the police instead of arresting them.

They said the deceased were declared as outlaws.

They denied having any affiliation with the Mahar-Jatoi dispute and disagreed to take part in jirga.
