Karachi Basketball Club lift SSB Cup in style

KARACHI: In a nerve-fraying final, Karachi Basketball Club edged past Bounce Club 47-43 to lift the SSB Cup Quaid-i-Azam Basketball title here at Arambagh court on Sunday night.

Former Olympian and hockey captain Islahuddin Siddiqui was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the trophies and prizes among the players and the winners and runner-up teams.

Islah emphasized on organising of more sports competitions in the year to create a positive culture of healthy competition among the youth and congratulated the KBBA for holding the impressive tournament under floodlights at the court.

Meanwhile, Binoria Basketball Club received the fairplay trophy while Karachi Basketball Club’s Jazib Abbasi and Bounce Club’s Muzammiluddin were jointly declared as Men of the Final.

Arambagh Club’s Raheel, technical official Ashraf Yahya and umpire Nazakat Khan were also given special awards.

KBBA president Ghulam Mohammad announced that the inter-collegiate girls basketball will be held at Arambagh courts from Jan 28 while Kashmir Cup basketball tournament will commence here from Feb 5.
