KARACHI: Askari Club reached the quarterfinals while Neighbourhood Club topped its group on Friday night at the SSB Cup Quaid-i-Azam basketball tournament at the Arambagh courts.

Askari Club beat strong One Unit Club 47-39 to qualify for quarters.

Saad Khan with 13 points was ghe leading scorer for the winners while Shameer Zaheer with 10 points and Syed Bakhtiar with six points also played well.

For the losing side Tashqain scored 14 points, Azhar Ali (eight points) and Nihal Hussain scored four points.

The toughest contest of the tournament was seen here when Neighbourhood Club fought hard to beat Omega Club 59-56 and top the group after both clubs drawing level four times.

Chen was the top-scorer for the winners with 17 points while Abdullah (13 points) and Asad Ali (12 points) also played superbly.

For the losing team, the main scorer was Mohammad Riz with 20 points while Anas Azhar and Taimur Azhar scored nine points each.
