QUETTA: President of the Balochistan chapter of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML N) retired Gen Qadir Baloch has said that the government of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has failed to address public issues.

Speaking at the “meet the press’ programme at the Quetta Press Club on Saturday, he said the PML-N could not be eliminated from the country’s politics by imprisoning the Sharif brothers.

He said all opposition parties would join hands under one umbrella, but “we don’t want to disturb Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government but to give PTI a chance to rule the country”.

He said opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif and PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had assured the central government of their support in addressing the current financial woes, but unfortunately the ruling party didn’t even hear the suggestions of opposition parties.

The PML-N leader said the central government had completely failed to provide relief to the masses as the declining value of the rupee had increased inflation in the country. Foreign investors were reluctant to invest in Pakistan, he said.

Criticising the government over political victimisation in the name of accountability, Qadir Baloch said Imran Khan was a clean man but his cabinet members were facing corruption allegations and being investigated by the National Accountability Bureau.

“The anti-corruption watchdog had not proved corruption allegations against the Sharif brothers and they have been facing imprisonment because of political reasons,” he added.

He claimed that the PML N never encouraged corruption in Pakistan and said “NAB is responsible of taking action against corrupt elements but it should make sure impartial accountability in Pakistan rather than framing cases against opposition parliamentarians.”

Talking about the Balochistan government headed by Jam Kamal Khan Alyani, the PML N leader said Jam Kamal was a good choice for the post of chief minister within the Balochistan Awami Party.

“He (Jam Kamal) has been attempting to make me jobless, but being a politician I am a well-wisher of him,” he added.
