KARACHI: A fire broke out in the sealed office of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) near the Lal Qila ground in Azizabad on Tuesday, officials said.

They said a couple of fire engines were moved to the affected place, where the fire was reported at around 3.30pm.

The officials said no major damage was caused by the blaze.

The offices of the party were sealed by authorities in August 2016 after a controversial speech by MQM founding chief Altaf Hussain.

In a statement, MQM-Pakistan spokesman expressed concern over the incident and urged the authorities to inform them about the damage.

Concerns were also raised by disgruntled leader Dr Farooq Sattar, who asked for immediate and detailed report about the incident.
