On the road

Published December 31, 2018

SOMEBODY aptly said: “The way people behave on the road tells a lot about the society and the nation therein”.

If we move towards Lahore from the Shadra side, we will notice that there is no law on the road, illiteracy can clearly be seen and people seem to have no knowledge of law and civic sense. You move further up and reach the middle of the city that houses the middle class. Here you find people, though educated, behaving like the uneducated.

You proceed further and go up to the posh localities. Here the rule of ‘might is right’ applies.

Bigger cars have a greater right of way than smaller ones. These are three major segments of our society; all three are ill in their own way.

If you can read this letter, this means you are educated. Then please try to change yourself and try to change others on your own.

If everyone of us shows civility on the road it will inculcate itself in other parts of our lives and in dealings with each other. Try giving way; it will make you happier than pushing in. You will have peace and tranquillity at least on our roads.
