KARACHI: Six additional judges of the Sindh High Court took the oath of office as permanent judges on Saturday.
SHC Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh administered the oath to Justices Kausar Sultana Hussain, Irshad Ali Shah, Shamsuddin Abbasi, Amjad Ali Sahito, Adnan Iqbal Chaudhry and Agha Faisal at a ceremony held at the main SHC building.
Judges, federal and provincial law officers and senior lawyers attended the ceremony.
The newly confirmed judges were appointed on Feb 6, 2018 as additional judges of the SHC for a period of one year.
The Judicial Commission headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan in a recently held meeting recommended the confirmation of these judges. At present, the total strength of SHC judges is 37 against the sanctioned strength of 40.
