APROPOS a letter from Muhammad Haris Riaz (May 2) regarding non acceptance of parcels.

After an inquiry by the divisional superintendent south division Lahore, it was revealed that on the day the complainant went to the Allama Iqbal Town post office in Lahore to book his documents, there was an electricity breakdown across the country due to a major fault at Tarbela.

The electric weighing scale was not working because of this reason, and owing to the non-availability of any substitute arrangement, the parcels were not booked by the staff.

Now, another weighing scale has been provided to the said post office to handle the situation in case of a power breakdown. A UPS/generator has also been provided.

These measures have been carried out to ensure that the post office remains operational during power breakdowns in the future.
