KARACHI: The three-nation summit meeting among the Shahanshah of Iran, President Ayub Khan and the Turkish Premier, Mr Suleyman Demirel, concluded in Karachi last evening [Dec 26] on a note of “complete identity of views” on the complex international issues as well as on the problems of interest and concern to the RCD member-countries, individually and collectively.

The subjects mainly discussed at the three-day summit talks — held in ‘”a free, frank and cordial atmosphere” — were: the Arab-Israeli conflict, Cyprus issue, the security problem of the Persian Gulf area, and the relations between India and Pakistan, including the question of Kashmir.

During discussions relating to the RCD, the leaders of the region approved the report of the high-level working group, which made important recommendations with a view to ensuring greater and more meaningful collaboration in the common pursuit of happiness, and welfare of the region’s peoples.

The leaders agreed that in taking up joint ventures “we should be realistic and practical”. They called for positive steps to coordinate the industries of the three countries and “harmonise” industrial production so as to be able to compete in world markets. — Correspondent
