KOHAT: The deputy commissioner has asked the administration of women and children hospital to immediately open the closed inn for the attendants of patients and appoint two extra doctors in the children OPD.

DC Matiullah Khan sent additional deputy commissioner Shah Nawaz Naveed to the facility on public complaints of huge rush in the OPD and attendants having been forced to sleep in galleries in the severe cold.

During visit of the hospital, Mr Naveed talked to the patients and met with the administration officials. He took strong exception to the closed inn meant for the people to stay with their patients.

The inn constructed with millions of rupees has been turned into a scrap store.

He said the presence of attendants was essential in case of bringing unavailable medicines and helping patients in case of emergency and their shifting from one ward to another.

The additional deputy commissioner asked the deputy medical superintendent, Dr Ikramullah Khan, to open the inn closed for more than a decade after essential repairs and provide water and electricity there.
