PESHAWAR: District nazim, Peshawar, Mohammad Asim Khan on Wednesday snubbed the officials of education department for their failure to furnish details about different kinds of funds to the elected representatives. He formed a committee to check performance of the department and ensure provision of the entire details to him and other district members at the earliest.

He was presiding over a meeting here at his office. The education committee will be headed by district councillor Fazalullah Khan while Gulzada, district officer finance Alamzeb and education officers of the relevant towns would be its members.

The committee will collect details about the funds so far released to the parent-teacher councils and under the ADP and check their utilisation, ongoing schemes and performance of the education department in Peshawar. It will then present a detailed report to the district nazim and other members of the district council.

The nazim also directed the relevant officials to release development funds, remove the debris of dilapidated buildings and start construction work within two weeks. He formed another committee to check issues pertaining to pending uplift funds and shifting of the funds from one school to another.

Speaking on the occasion, district council members Saidan Shah, Fazalullah Khan, Fayaz Khan, Gul Afzal, Azhar Khan, Adnan Mamriz, Ibrahim Khan, Rehman Afzal, Nisbatullah, Gul Zada, Shamsul Bari and Khurshid Alam emphasised that the officials of education department should improve their performance by checking the schools regularly.

Azhar Khan from Khazana union council announced to provide two-kanal land for construction of a school building in his locality. On this occasion, the officials of education department assured full cooperation to the education committee.
