ISLAMABAD, June 25: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday said that the local bodies elections would be held in the country according to the schedule. Talking to a representative delegation from his constituency NA-159 here at the Prime Minister’s House, Mr Aziz said that local bodies were an important part of the good governance process. He said the local bodies polls would be held on schedule and added that people should elect efficient, responsible and right candidates so that the democratic process could be strengthened.

The delegation apprised the prime minister about various problems of the area.

The prime minister said the government was launching an ambitious plan in the country to provide gas, electricity and clean drinking water and construct roads under the Khushaal Pakistan Programme.

He said a package of development projects under this programme was also being planned for Fatehjang and adjoining areas.

He said the legal and police systems were being revamped to ensure delivery of quick and inexpensive justice.

The prime minister said terrorists and sectarian and subversive elements would never be tolerated.—APP
