FAISALABAD: The Punjab Healthcare Commission on Tuesday banned all sorts of surgeries in a private hospital at Pensera and imposed a Rs500,000 fine on it.

A nurse, Robina, has also been slapped Rs50,000 fine for quackery and impersonating as a doctor at the Munawar Hospital, Pensera.

A handout issued by the PHC said an ENT specialist, Dr Mohammad Zahid, had been allowed by the hospital to perform C-Section and administering spinal anesthesia, simultaneously.

A complainant submitted an application to the PHC that he had taken his pregnant wife to the hospital for child birth, where Robina Munawar Wahla, was impersonating as a lady doctor. He alleged that Ms Wahla, without having his wife’s ultrasound test done referred her to Dr Zahid who performed the C-Section.

“We had to shift the patient to the Allied Hospital due to the negligence of (Munawar) hospital staff when her post-operation bleeding did not stop,” the complainant said.

The PHC conducted investigation, sought experts opinion and found the complaint justified.

The probe found that the operation was carried out by ENT Specialist Dr Zahid, who had also given her anesthesia.

The hospital also failed to have the services of a qualified person for a serious patient, while she was being shifted to a tertiary care facility, the probe found.

It was also found that no referral slip had been given to the attendants.

Besides banning all kinds of surgeries at the hospital, the commission imposed Rs0.5 million fine on the hospital for allowing Dr Zahid to perform C-Section and administering spinal anesthesia.

infant rescued: The Civil Lines police rescued an infant boy from his captors on Tuesday who was kidnapped from the Allied Hospital on Monday.

The police raided a house in Malkhanwala and arrested alleged kidnappers Sana and her husband Nazir.

Sana introduced herself as Noor Fatima to the family in the hospital, boy’s father Zahid said.

City Police Officer Ashfaq Ahmed told a press conference that the police rescued the infant in 14 hours of the kidnapping. He said the suspects were being interrogated to detect the motive of the kidnapping.

Rahila Bibi, of Jhang Road, gave birth to a baby boy four-days ago who was kidnapped. The police traced the accused with the help of the footage provided by the hospital administration.
