Two Chinese nationals arrested in raid at illegal alcohol factory in Islamabad

Two Chinese nationals were arrested by police after a raid at an illegal alcohol factory in Islamabad's sector F-10/4 area, a police spokesperson said on Sunday.

Large quantities of beer of various brands, as well as machinery to brew the alcohol were recovered from the house where the manufacturing unit had been established.

The two suspects were producing as well as selling alcohol of various brands, the police spokesperson told DawnNewsTV. They were arrested after they failed to present a licence or permit to run the brewery.

A first information report (FIR) was registered against the duo under Section 3/4 of Prohibition (Enforcement of Hudood) Ordinance 1979 at the Shalimar police station.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Waqaruddin Syed congratulated the police team that carried out the raid on Saturday over their performance.

He directed all officers to continue the crackdown against drug peddlers and added that such individuals, who are set on disrupting the peace in society, should not be dealt with leniently.

Let me be as clear as I can: 1. Chinese are no body’s friend. Their only friend is money. 2. We have nothing in commen with Chinese. 3. Pakistan’s interests with China is not based on people but strategic interests. 4. Chinese government have imprisoned over 1 million Uighur Muslims as are forcing them to denounce Islam. 5. Muslim Uighur women are forced into wedding with non-Muslim Chinese. These are serious issues and Pakistan must be bold enough to take these issues up with Beijing as an ally and trustful partner.

@kamal, That's the problem with Pakistan, it has to allow others to work and have visas - after all Pakistanis as desparate to goto Australia, UK, USA and Europe - it works both ways. These Chinese guys if they have broken the law show be tried in a Court of Law.

They were serving a portion of the community who consume alcohol, and considered not a big deal in many progressive countries, including Islamic countries, they should be deported if found guilty. But no jail time since they hurt no one.

Pakistan cannot do anything to Chinese nationals in Pakistan as Pakistan is heavily in debt to Chinese. The Chinese know this very well so absolutely nothing will happen to them.

From the initial reports the chinese were making fake copies of the famous Muree brewery's beers, rum and other alcoholic products! This not only hurts a successful, legal and employment providing pakistani enterprise the Muree Brewers but also hurts the brand name by providing potentially very harmful products to unsuspecting pakistani consumers!
